If you like traffic lights, you've come to the right place!
I have over 35 signals in my personal collection and film all sorts of interesting infrastructure in the wild!
I’m also a traffic signal technician so you’ll get to see lots of behind the scenes work while I’m on the job.

LRT Intersection in Dallas with Lots of Signals
Просмотров 2662 часа назад
Here’s another LRT intersection in Downtown Dallas I found. It operates the same as the others; with a rail preemption and a ped signal in recall. There are also a lot of signal displays at this intersection.
My Traffic Lights: Display Update 2024
Просмотров 8794 часа назад
Here’s my latest walk through of my basement intersection and the new signal displays I’ve installed. The 5 section 3M still needs to be wired up and I need to find some visors for my 9” ped and my Chinese signal. I will post another update soon, once the 3M has been energized. Enjoy!
Temporary Signal Setup in Lower Sackville
Просмотров 2207 часов назад
Here’s a temporary setup in Lower Sackville on a wire span. This intersection was being converted to a roundabout at the time of filming and has been fully completed. This setup was causing a bit of confusion so extra steps were taken to close the ramps to complete the roundabouts without having temporary traffic signals.
LRT Intersection in Dallas with Priority Phasing
Просмотров 2079 часов назад
Here’s one of Dallas’ many intersections with LRT priority and even a dedicated LRT road! I wasn’t actually expecting to see something like this in Dallas. This LRT goes out past Irving as well since Dallas is a big commuter city! The phasing always prioritizes the LRT but if there is no train, just the pedestrian signal will operate.
Lagging Flashing Green in Yarmouth
Просмотров 35621 час назад
Here’s an older intersection near downtown Yarmouth. This intersection has always had a leading advance green and this lagging flashing green was tried but not well received. This intersection has been switched back to a leading flashing green and will soon have a bimodal arrow and new controller.
LPI & Lagging Flashing Green in Antigonish
Просмотров 20114 дней назад
Here’s a video of Antigonish’s last fast flashing green ball. It has been set up to run a lagging flashing green, rather than a leading. This was to implement an LPI and to clear out remaining cars since this runs fixed time.
Custom Flasher Logic
Просмотров 10414 дней назад
A quick video of a project I’m working on for a queue cutter signal in Nova Scotia. I’m using one of the load switch outputs as a flasher to operate a railroad advance warning sign. The sign does not need to be on during a flash condition either. I also have a failsafe in place when the detectors fail to the point of the queue cutter failing. The signals will put themselves into a preempt flash...
New EPP in Elmsdale
Просмотров 17814 дней назад
A new exclusive pedestrian phase set up in Elmsdale at Trunk 2 and Route 214. The side street has a shared thru/left lane on one side and a single lane on the other. This can make crossing that stretch of road a bit hazardous. Now, while the main road can still be permissive, with a callable LPI, the side road can act as a fully exclusive pedestrian crossing. During preemption, the exclusive pe...
Complex Intersection in Downtown Keene

Here’s a complex intersection in downtown Keene, NH. It runs fixed time and has a callable exclusive pedestrian phase for each direction. Some of the displays and sequences are a bit interesting but it’s certainly a unique setup. Also has buzzer APS on a few corners.

Exclusive Pedestrian Phase in Sackville, NB
1:24 They probably subtract the Yellow & All-Red from the Ped Clear calculation, which is compliant with the MUTCD.
I love it
Yep I walk by here almost each day. Pretty loud
Haha I know this one yep it is odd
When it all started
I'm watching this video for the first time. Amazing!!
Pretty cool setup
That’s very cool! Ive never seen a polara navigator with led lights before and the message that played sounds very rare too! I love that!
The arrow on the train signal is for the switch just past the intersection
Those Econolites are in fact Poly Button Backs. The Aluminum Button Back signals(which you've seen in Canada and I've seen on a weigh station at I-70 and US 35 in Richmond IN) have different patterns, with the back like a Walker Brothers.
In my territory the light doesn’t change until the crossing activates
In Florida the signals for the spam wires for the poles are actually made out of concrete
There’s a few of them are McCains
I think it's unnecessary to cycle the ped crossing that runs parallel to the tracks. The signal should rest on green until someone pushes the button to cross the road or until a train approaches the intersection. It seems to me that there's nobody that's crossing the road most of the time and it's really not necessary to hold up traffic to cycle a ped phase that has nobody using the crossing.
very nice
This intersection is so cool! Five 12" 3 sections seems like a massive overkill though, but it makes for a unique setup!
I'm personally not a huge fan of the ped phase being fixed timed. I think it should be button activated!
I have seen these in Hawaii
I would also love to see the inside of your LED hand/fibre optic man pedestrian signal.
I can do that!
nice
Hi
Hi
Hi
I never knew you had a blue “BITTE WARTEN” (German for Please Wait) light. Are there any places in Canada that uses it?
@@davidlurhfan2005 not at all! I just got this from another collector!
hey i was there!
Ain't the Econolite at 9:33 a McCain style version? Basically it's a more plain backed signal(like a McCain.) they're pretty common around Ohio. Hamilton and Fairfield in Ohio(north of Cincinnati, near Jungle Jim's) have some Halifax NS style signals.
Yes! You’re right! I thought of that too when I got this.
@@TheTrafficTech that model, interesting enough, has a pedestrian signal version. If you're interested (I don't know if you've seen these) there's some areas of Ohio where pedestrian signal housings are used for school zone speed limit signs. And yes, some variable speed limit sign trailers use black fortran heads for the flashing beacons.
During those old style Quebec amber ball left arrow clearance, I've never seen any of them have the reds go dark while the amber interval is on. It just makes your collection even more unique!! :3
@@Gentrol the ones in Halifax actually did this so that’s what I’m replicating!
Oh wow!! That's super cool!
Glad to see your new aluminum Econolite thriving in your collection! I'm glad I could save it from scrap for you, it looks great!! <3
Nice to see that you got the Canadian 16" ped up and running! I definitely love the Canadian modules the most!
I love the "new" Econolites, you finally have a bullseye!! I also love that Econolite 9-9 ped!
Remembering 9/11 😭 never forget the twin towers, Pentagon, and untied 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania in 2001 and the 30,000 people that have died
Those guys meet in New Philadelphia, Ohio around the Spring and Summer each year.

These pedestrian signals often get replaced with countdown pedestrian signals.
Wow!! Super cool
Straight red and yellow arrows are prohibitted by the MUTCD.
@@traffic.engineer I know! I was surprised to see this!
Sounds like a Bombardier T1 subway train
It really does!! That's so strange.
Nice! Those CBD cabinets were slick back in the day
@@SeanB88 I know! I really wasn’t expecting TS2 when I opened this!
Is there like a master reset button on those in case everything jams up haha
@@SkyOfTheUniverse yeah, this monitor does have a reset button on it!
Another cool behind the scenes video!
Yeah! Helping out the town of Yarmouth was a lot of fun. They have a lot of really interesting setups!
I absolutely love this intersection! Or at least the west side of it. Those GEs are so cool, I wish I could see them in person someday! Also love the flashing green!
Wow, that’s sure an oldie! Probably a nightmare to debug if there’s a problem. 😄
@@WestCoastTrafficSignals I have the original manuals but I would still imagine this would be brutal to diagnose haha
Are yellow and red reversed on SP1 and SP2?
@@SeanB88 yes! Both locations with this controller were like that! No idea why!
@@TheTrafficTech I'm wondering if the controller was hardwired to flash yellow on the main street and they couldn't change that, so they flipped red and yellow to get a red/red flash?
@@SeanB88 OHHHH I wonder! That would make sense but they do flash yellow and red!
@@TheTrafficTech Maybe I've got it backwards and the panel is hard wired for red/red flash and they swapped them around to get a yellow/red flash
Y'all even replace the LEDs just for being spray painted? Wow that's crazy LOL
Nice! I actually have 1 of these sitting at my parents house, how did they hook up a newer style conflict monitor
@@kenlacey6781 looks like they soldered the pins to the slide in card! Looks “custom”. It does work though!
I didn't even notice the cable running up to the card, must be a blank card maybe, I know mine has popped a couple of times and I had to solder jumpers on it to make it work, I haven't used it in a long time since I got the cabinet setup in my videos
@@kenlacey6781 right! Yeah I have no way of testing the older units at all!
Calgary did something similar along the 17th ave bus lane when conflicting U-turns have a green light, and also at the 9th ave and 4th street, and the 17th ave and Richmond Rd intersections when there's a bike phase.
I love how compact it is! I need one of these bahaha
I mean I have 2 of them LOL
Of these exact controllers, or cabinets?
@@Gentrol just the controllers!
That's super cool!
Super cool!
